"George Bush Doesn't Care About Black People"

Continuing with more Katrina remembering and reflecting, here is mash-up video, sampling Kanye West's "Gold digger" his infamous statement that "George bush doesn't care about black people" during an NBC telethon. Two of his sponsors subsequently dropped him from their labels. The statement was made in response to what was widely recognized as the mainstream American media's overtly racist depictions and descriptions of Katrina victims in New Orleans, in the devastating aftermath of the storm. Today New Orleans residents continue to struggle to rebuild, particularly folks living (or attempting to live) in the Lower Ninth Ward, which suffered the brunt of the forces exerted when the levees broke (as had been previously predicted by national experts, but never officially announced to the public). The Lower Ninth Ward is also the most disporportionately poor and black of all the New Orleans districts.
