The New York Times reports that an assessment of terrorism trends by American intelligence agencies concluded that the U.S. invasion and susbsequent occupation of Iraq has helped inspire 'a new generation of Islamic radicalism', asserting that the overall terorrist threat has grown since the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States. The intelligence report was completed in April and is the first formal evaluation of global terrorism by U.S. intelligence agencies since the beginning of the U.S. war on Iraq.
