Natural gas is not clean or green. Its extraction results in groundwater pollution and its processing and production poses major threats to worker safety and health. it also detracts from cleaner, renewable energy initiatives such as wind and solar. However, it appears that NG is going to have to be part of the transition to renewables. Much like coal, we simply have too much of it and too much existing infrastructure and technologies devoted to it. I do however resent the fact that it is being branded as a green solution. Better than coal? In many ways, yes. Clean energy source? No. Renewable energy source? No. Can we do better than natural gas? You bet.
