Rose Royce: "Carwash" (1976)
This song, which was a hit single in 1976, was the theme for the 1976 Richard Prior Film 'Carwash'. This one goes out to the to the all too often forgotten working class of America! Nonetheless, we should also remember that working class struggles are hardly a walk in the park, and on the face of it the lyrics to this song are anything but politically correct from a labor justice standpoint. Nonetheless, this song is funky as hell and deserves to be remembered and marked in the history and legacy of American music. Enjoy.
