Deadly Harvest in Lebanon

Deadly unexploded cluster bomblets left over from Israel's bombardment of Lebanon with American-made cluster bombs have created countless post-war landmine fields across the country. The Independent reports that thus far the cluster bomblets left by Israel have been killing approximately 4 Lebanese a day. This daily death toll is expected to increase sharply with the arrival of harvest season as farmers literally risk their lives to salvage what little crops managed to survive the month long Israeli war against Hizbollah and the state of Lebanon that was launched by Israel as a response to the kidnapping of two Israeli soldiers by the armed wing of the Hizbollah Lebanese resistance organization in July. In a country whose economic infrastructure was literally wiped out in its latest war with Israel, the people of Lebanon face many challenges ahead. Click below to link to this story. -TW
